Arch of Galerius. Digital inkjet print 80 x 120cm This is the Roman triumphal arch found in the centre of Thessaloniki, Greece - a beautiful example of Byzantine architecture. I didn't want a "touristy" photograph of it but to show its beauty and detail as a great imposing arc across the sky.

Digital inkjet print 80 x 120cm In my own beloved birth city of Liverpool, I took many photographs of the Lambanana sculptures that were placed all over the city as part of the European Capital of Culture Festival in 2008, with this one set against the backdrop of the Town Hall.

Serendipity. Digital inkjet print (with hand-drawn detail) 60 x 90cm I was walking down my road and chanced upon this huge beautiful peony. I wanted to use my hand to show the scale of the flower as it was about ten inches across, and I used my artistic licence to make the pollen pop bright yellow!
A Thing of Beauty. Digital inkjet print 80 x 120cm Sometimes, ordinary mundane things can be very striking. I love the geometry of this plughole, with that twisting metal shape suggesting fluidity and movement. I stumbled across this one in the toilet at Wagamamas! I enjoy using Photoshop filters to add texture and depth to my images as well as enabling me to add hand-painted detail.
Down 5th Avenue. Digital inkjet print 80 x 120cm The cityscape in New York is staggering, and I had a birds-eye view of the night sky right down to the Verrazzano Bridge from the Empire State Building. There is something joyful about seeing it all lit up at night, and as far away as Staten Island.
Pink Poppy. Digital inkjet print 76 x 134cm I adore poppies and always stop to photograph them wherever I see them. This was in the front garden of a near-neighbour's house. Pink poppies are particularly lovely, and I enjoy using Photoshop filters to add texture and depth to my images.
Queen of the Skies. Digital inkjet print (with hand-drawn detail) 80 x 120cm We were moving towards the runway at Heathrow, taxiing for take-off and I only had a few seconds to get this photograph through my small window. In the original the Jumbo's nose and the entire strip down the right hand side were missing so I had to draw it in. I was quite pleased with the result ;-)

I used oil-based lithographic crayons and then transferred the drawings on to steel plates, which enabled me to add hand-drawn detail and light delicate watercolour qualities, etched on to steel with nitric acid.

Pier Head Lambanana. Digital inkjet print 80 x 120cm In 2008 I spent ten days walking/driving all over Liverpool to photograph the Lambanana sculptures. With this image I wanted it highly-coloured in contrast to the grey stone-clad buildings around it.

New York Water Taxi. Digital inkjet print 80 x 120cm Manhattan is unique - a long finger of land densely packed with skyscrapers, and with the vast waters of New York Bay at its southern tip. I was lucky to get this sky as my backdrop.

Lord Mayor's Coach 1757. Digital inkjet print 90 x 120cm For a while I worked for the City of London, and got special dispensation to privately photograph the Lord Mayor's State Coach. As it is priceless, they had to lock me in the Coach House so it remained secure!
